The first Barton Community College Student Recital of the school year will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, October 25 in the Dorothy Moses Morrison Chapel, located in the Fine Arts Building, F-157. The recital is free and open to the public.
Michael Fahrney is making a comfortable living as a feed delivery driver for Great Bend Coop, but only a couple years ago his path in life didn’t look as bright. He had been struggling with drug abuse, jumping from one job to another.

The drought monitor for Kansas has improved dramatically for Northeast Kansas as the predicted rains and more happened. The rest of the state is out of anything resembling even dry conditions. The forecast is for possible accumulating snow as this is being written for Sunday. Since the weather is the major news here, let’s review the good, the bad, and the ugly of this situation.

Barton Community College will help area high school seniors plan for their futures at Senior Day, starting at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 14, with a sign-up deadline of Oct. 31. Those interested can sign up at seniorday.bartonccc.edu.

The Barton Performing Arts Department will host its annual Sneak Preview concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, October 11 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. The concert is open to the public. A free-will donation will be accepted at the door.
The event will feature performances by the Concert Choir, Jazz Ensemble, Hilltop Singers and Prairie Winds Concert Band, each offering a peek into the musical potential of each group.
