Barton Community College will offer a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) refresher course 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Nov. 21-22 in the Adult Healthcare Lab, T-119.

This 15 contact-hour course is approved by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services (KDADS) for a Kansas CNA who has gone inactive and wishes to reactive their credential. It is a state requirement to pass a refresher course to reactivate CNA credentials.

Barton Community College will offer transitioning Fort Riley Soldiers a grant-funded two-week certificate program at no cost to participants. The Hazardous Waste Worker (HWW) program gives Soldiers credentials to help them find work after their tenure in the US Army ends.

The next course is set from Dec. 5-16 at 8388A Armistead St., Fort Riley, Kan.

According to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services(UCIS), there will be an increase in fees for most immigration applications and petitions effective Dec. 23. The increase is from $680 to $725. 

Barton Community College will offer free citizenship classes from 10 a.m. – noon and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the Center for Adult Education, 1025 Main St., Great Bend in room 208.

Barton Community College’s Prairie Winds Concert Band will present a fall concert featuring music from around the world at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

The band will be performing music from various artists from across the globe. One of the artists that will be featured is George Gershwin. Gershwin was made famous for “Rhapsody in Blue” which was featured in Disney’s “Fantasia 2000”. The band will also be playing marches, overtures and orchestral transcriptions.
