The Barton Community College Foundation presents scholarships each year from funds received through its fundraising events, endowments and annual scholarship gifts. For the 2015-16 academic year, the Foundation has selected the following students (listed by hometown) for scholarship offers:

Barton Community College will offer free citizenship classes from 10 a.m. – noon and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the Center for Adult Education, 1025 Main St., Great Bend in room 208.

The Barton Community College Music Department is excited to announce the spring 2016 musical, “The Addams Family: A New Musical,” by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice.

The show is set for 7:30 p.m. on March 4 and 5 with a 2 p.m. matinee March 6.

Auditions are open to everyone and will be held at 7 p.m. November 29 and 30 in the Barton Fine Arts Auditorium. Characters include Grandmama, Lurch, Uncle Fester, Morticia, Gomez, Pugsley and Wednesday.

Barton Community College and Ellsworth Correctional Facility (ECF) received recognition for their innovative and progressive cooperative efforts to reduce recidivism of inmates via education at a press conference Wednesday afternoon at ECF.

The Governor thanked the college for their efforts in providing inmates with opportunities to become productive members of society.

Public invited to Jack Kilby Science Day keynote: NASA’s Raphael Grau

For the first time, the public is invited to attend the keynote speech for the 12th annual Jack Kilby Science Day at 9 a.m. October 15 in the Fine Arts Building at Barton Community College.

Raphael Grau, Acting Manager of External Integration for the International Space Station Program, has agreed to serve as keynote.
