The Barton Community College Foundation presents scholarships each year from funds received through its fundraising events, endowments and annual scholarship gifts. The Foundation has selected the following students (listed by hometown) for scholarship offers for the 2020-21 academic year:

Barton Community College will host a blood drive from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 in the Technical Building in room T-186, the Case New Holland Training area. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks will be required.

Barton encourages potential students to let their “GPA Pay the Way” through the Barton Bound scholarship. The tiered program awards first time college students who graduated from a Kansas high school based on their GPA or ACT score. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is May 1 (students graduating in December have a deadline of Dec.1).

Barton Welding Instructor Josh Snodgrass has been recognized by the Kansas Department of Corrections as the 2019 Contract Employee of the Year for his exemplary performance teaching incarcerated individuals at the Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility (LCMHF). Local awards are designated per facility, and awardees are in the running for a state-level award to be determined by the Kansas Department of Corrections.

The Barton Performing Arts Department invites the community to enjoy its “Autumn Arts” concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 8 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. The concert will feature the Barton Department of Music and Barton Dance Theatre.
